ProCircular founder and Chief Executive Officer, Aaron Warner is slated to speak at the first annual Awareness Con, an information security conference hosted by Black Hills Information Security (BHIS). The event will be hosted on Wednesday, November 20th in Adel, Iowa at the Adel Public Library. The purpose of Awareness Con is to draw attention to the profession of ethical hacking, commonly referred to as Penetration Testing, and the benefits this practice can have for organizations of all types. Penetration Testing is a simulated attack on an organization's computer and physical security systems to ensure that existing security measures in place are effective.

This event is in response to recent headlines that two penetration testers from Coalfire, a security firm based in Colorado, were arrested after the State of Iowa hired them to test the physical security of the Dallas County Courthouse. The two men were originally charged with third-degree burglary and possession of burglars' tools. While these charges have been downgraded to trespassing, they are still awaiting trial next April. You can read more about the incident here:

ProCircular takes every opportunity to help to educate the public about the benefits of penetration testing, the profession of ethical hacking, and cybersecurity as a whole.

“While all of the specifics of the case may not yet be public, we felt it was important to speak out as a community and perhaps shed some light on the advantages of this sort of testing.” said Aaron Warner. “We all have the same goals in mind – improve our clients’ confidence in and their knowledge of their security risks. “

The one-day conference at the Adel Public Library, 9am - 4pm, will consist of speakers from penetration testing companies, information security professionals from Iowa, and a time for questions and answers with audience members. This event will stream live online for people unable to attend in person, to watch through GoToWebinar, .
